Iron Sword got off the mark in fine style, landing the 4-y-o bumper at Ballinrobe for the yard.
Despite drifting from the morning price, he was sent off a warm favourite and never looked like letting the team down. Adam Ryan sent him straight to the front and he made all the running, keeping on strongly to score by four and a half lengths.
Assistant trainer Willie Slattery said: "It was straightforward and, in fairness, he was very unlucky the last day at Roscommon (third).
