King Christoph (IRE) made all to land the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden (Smullen) at Thurles, winning by one and a quarter lengths from Dawnmore. The two-year-old son of King of Change, owned by Sean Greaney, was ridden by A J Slattery and dictated the contest from the front before responding well to pressure. The yard reported that the gelding came forward from his Listowel run and may appear next in a nursery at Leopardstown before the season ends. It marked a first winner for owner Sean Greaney, who has been with the yard for a year. "He ran green in Listowel and came forward, so it was lovely," said Slattery. "He is a bit fresh in himself, so I might run him again in a nursery in Leopardstown before the season ends. Sean (Greaney, owner from Limerick) is with us a year now and it is grand to get him a winner. He had some good horses years ago but had hard luck in between, so it is nice to train him our first winner together. Sean picked him out himself (for €13,000), so I can't take any credit for that."

Kodi Brown (IRE) ran out a convincing winner of the first division of the ten furlong handicap at Navan. Andrew Slattery junior produced the mare to lead passing the two pole and the 9/1 shot galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a three-and-a-quarter length success. It was the Kodi Bear filly's first outing since last November. She had been placed twice last autumn. Andy Slattery senior said afterwards: 'She had been working well. She was ready to run in April and then she got an injury. She did her pelvis during the summer, and she was off and missed a lot of work. She did that well and she was unlucky in this race last year (runner-up) when the saddle slipped on her. She does like it here. She is owned by a lovely man, Finbarr Walsh, and he enjoys his few horses. He made the trek from Cork today.' (Quotes by Michael Graham)
Expert Dancer (GB) made a winning return in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap at Navan. Andrew Slattery junior produced the mare with a well-timed late charge, waiting for a gap on the 9/2 shot and getting a good tune from her in the closing stages to chase down Divine Legend for a short-head victory. The Expert Eye filly was making her first start since Galway, where she had chased home Dancing Saxon at the festival. The success was a second career win for the mare, who also took a Limerick maiden in June. Andy Slattery senior said: "She was unlucky in Galway, she got stopped coming up the hill. A nice filly. She got an injury and was away in surgery in Fethard for two weeks - she got a nail up to the frog of her hoof and she was very lucky to be back racing. It was touch and go for a few days. They did a great job to get her back. We might leave her off now. I think she will be a lovely filly for the Lincoln. She loves soft ground and I think I might put her away. Willie's filly (Mullins, Rebel Wave) that won at Champions Weekend (Leopardstown)- she beat her in a maiden in Limerick, so she had form." (Quotes by Michael Graham)

Suir Monad (IRE) made all the running to land the Carry Out Off-Licence Handicap at Killarney, scoring by 2.5 lengths from Down The Glen under Sam Coen. The 85/40 favourite, a grey son of Dark Angel rated 69, was winning for the first time for the yard. Brian Slattery said: "he has been promising to do that for a while as he is a decent horse, who had been a little disappointing up until now. We thought he'd have won before now and hopefully now he'll step on from here. He is a nice horse. He did it well today and got a grand ride from Sam. He has been lightly raced up until now and while he's in that vein of form, we'll definitely get him out again."

Sir Allen (GB) opened his account over fences with a four-and-a-quarter-length success in the SIS Supporting Irish Racing Beginners Steeplechase at Gowran Park. Sent off at 18/1 under Philip Donovan, who stepped in for the injured Cian Quirke, Sir Allen took advantage when the long-time leader Bon Viveur came down in the straight, keeping the odds-on favourite Arcadian Emperor comfortably at bay. The seven-year-old had shown useful form as a juvenile hurdler and also won on the Flat, but had been going through the motions recently. Schooling over fences sparked a revival, and the yard will now look for a rated novice chase. "He was a very good juvenile hurdler who also won a few Flat races but was going through the motions recently, so we started schooling him over fences, which seemed to ignite him. He'll keep going over fences and will go on softer ground as well. We'll look for a rated novice chase now. It was a nice winning spare for Phily, who rides out for me." Andrew Slattery confirmed Sir Allen will continue over fences and will handle softer ground as the autumn progresses.
Fleur In The Park (IRE) made a winning return to action in the PWC Danoli Steeplechase (Grade 2) at Gowran Park, beating Blood Destiny by six and a half lengths. The seven-year-old son of Walk In The Park, owned by Mrs Margaret O'Rourke, was having his first start since finishing second in a Grade 1 at Punchestown last season. Ridden by C M Quirke, the gelding was reported to be only 80 to 85 per cent fit. The yard indicated that the John Durkan at Punchestown or the BetVictor Envoi Allen Champion Chase at Down Royal could be next on the agenda. "Cian said he dragged his shoulder getting up on Fleur In The Park and I'd say he popped his shoulder," said Slattery. "When you win a Grade 1 as a novice, you'd think it would be hard to win a race this season, but this is grand and he was only 80 or 85% fit today. Cian said he had a blow at the final fence, although he was fitter than I thought he was. It was a good performance as he gave weight to race-fit Blood Destiny, who was rated 156. We'll either go for the John Durkan (Punchestown) or the race in Down Royal (BetVictor Envoi Allen Champion Chase) next and then maybe the King George (Kempton). We'll see as we go along and he'll have three races before Christmas, and three after. He would love Kempton as he has pace for 2m4f and stays three miles. We'll dream away and see, and the next day will tell us a lot. El Domino (GB) landed the 2yo maiden at Cork, travelling strongly to challenge a furlong-and-a-half from home under A J Slattery. The son of Ardad was asked to extend passing the furlong pole and soon settled matters, posting a two-length success over 28/1 chance Spirit Of The Nite. El Domino had been third to Marco Polo at Cork earlier in the month and was dropping back to the minimum trip today. Andrew Slattery said: "He is a lovely horse but was weak and immature. He had two weeks on the walker after his run the last day, due to sore shins, and that's him finished now for the year. We'll geld him during the week. His owner Noel McElholm is 87 and couldn't make the trip today. He previously had Poppadom with us, so replaced him with this horse. He is just very immature and will be a lovely three-year-old. It is grand to get this win into him."

Ladies Well (7/2) made it three consecutive monthly wins when landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Chase at Roscommon under C M Quirke. The six-year-old mare, successful at Killarney's July and August festivals, out-battled Jolie Jewel from the second-last to score by two and a quarter lengths, with 27 lengths back to third-placed Chosen Shant. The yard was represented by brother and assistant Willie Slattery, who said: "We were a bit disappointed the last day, when she was a bit slowly away and missed the first fence, although we were delighted to see trainer Val O'Brien winning the race. She did that well today, has to have good ground and to be ridden like that. She's a brilliant jumper. "The boys (Mrs Crogh's Syndicate, which includes former Tipperary hurler Lar Corbett) would like a day out so we might go to one of those meetings in Cheltenham off a light weight. Iron Sword (FR) followed up a Ballinrobe maiden success with a comfortable three-and-a-half-length victory in the Listowel Printing (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race under Mr A P Ryan. Sent off the 4/6 favourite, the four-year-old son of For Fun always looked in command and ran out an impressive winner of the Listowel finale. The yard always held the horse in high regard and felt he would have made a winning debut at the Punchestown Festival before things went against him. A troubled run at Roscommon followed, where the horse would have won, before he got off the mark at Ballinrobe on 11 September. Iron Sword now goes on his holidays after four runs as a four-year-old and will not be seen until next spring. 'The horses are going great, thank God, and we like this horse. We thought he'd win at the Punchestown Festival on his debut run so were disappointed, although he got a bit excited and ran too keen. He then got wiped out at Roscommon, where he'd have won, and then won the last day. Ebony King quickened up impressively to land the concluding Failte Abhaile Race at Listowel under Adam Ryan. The yard's gelding travelled well to challenge turning for home in the amateur contest over a mile and six furlongs. He was asked to hit the front over a furlong from home and soon settled matters, galloping on strongly for a four-length win over the 28/1 shot Anyway. The 11/2 winner was making his first start since finishing last of six in a conditions race at Killarney in May, having been runner-up in Grade 2 company over hurdles prior to that. Andrew Slattery said: "I'm happy out with that. He got injured in Killarney in a six-runner race where the first four either won or were placed in Royal Ascot on their next runs. We got him back and he was ready but we thought he did might just need the run. He's a nice horse. "This is a great tonic for Tom Marr, his wife and her sister Mairead, as Mairead is the grandmother of Kaitlyn (Ryan), who got the fall recently so that's a bit of a help." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)

Chipsrdown (9/4 favourite) landed the concluding mile handicap at Gowran Park, scoring by two and a half lengths from Cause I Like You in a field of 16 under Sam Coen. The filly led a furlong and a half from home and stayed on well in the closing stages. It was a follow-up success for the yard, as she had also won on her previous outing at Leopardstown.

Iron Sword got off the mark in fine style, landing the 4-y-o bumper at Ballinrobe for the yard. Despite drifting from the morning price, he was sent off a warm favourite and never looked like letting the team down. Adam Ryan sent him straight to the front and he made all the running, keeping on strongly to score by four and a half lengths. Assistant trainer Willie Slattery said: "It was straightforward and, in fairness, he was very unlucky the last day at Roscommon (third). Adam had to ride him the way he did then, just to give him a bit of experience, but he got wiped out. It was a small field here, and he kept things simple. I'd say he'll go jumping a hurdle now."

Call My Name gave the yard another winner when stretching clear late on to land the concluding bumper at Kilbeggan. Adam Ryan was soon in front on the yard's Affinisea gelding, who was joined half-a-mile from home by early leader Myluckymaker and Walkwithmyfriend. The winner had been a touch unlucky when third on his debut at Tramore last month, getting hampered three furlongs from home. Willie Slattery said afterwards: "He clipped heels in the dip in Tramore. Other than that, he'd have been a close second. "I'd say Mick (Walsh) backed him all the way up. I'd say he had a nice few quid on him. Trainer Andy Slattery's fine run of form continued at Roscommon this evening where Letiza landed a narrow win in the 12-furlong Oran Handicap. It was Slattery's second winner of the day after the success of Killeemore Lad at Downpatrick, and his fifth winner since Friday. Ridden by his son Andrew, the All Stars Racing Syndicate-owned six-year-old led approaching the furlong-pole and stuck at it well to beat her fellow 7/1 chance Stellar Moment by a head. There was less than a length separating the first four horses across the line. “We don't have her that long, about three months,” said Slattery. “She was in England and wasn't running well there so they brought her back. She's run well on every run for us and it was a good run in the Curragh the last day. I'm delighted to win for the lads, she's after being in a lot of stables. He (Andrew) thought he was in front too soon. He said he wouldn't hit the front again as soon as she was idling a bit. I think she'll go on soft ground too.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson

Killeemore Lad continued Andy Slattery's good run with victory in the Cosy Group Beginners Steeplechase over an extended two-miles-three-furlongs at Downpatrick. The 7/2 chance tracked the leader in second and took over at the fifth fence. He was ridden after two out and stayed on well up the run-in to score by two and a half lengths for the Lumper Lane Syndicate. Jabbar took the runner-up berth at 5/2 joint favourite. Philip Donovan said: “I wanted to take a lead for as long as I could, but Pamela's horse (Griffin, Herja) wasn't doing a whole lot for me. She was taking me out of my rhythm everywhere. I just decided with a circuit to go to roll away. Got a bit lonely, but I always felt I was doing enough. He has a high cruising speed and this is a good horse, he just had a bit of trouble along the way. Delighted he got his head in front now. He lost nothing in defeat (runner-up in Roscommon and Tramore), maybe the last day (Tramore) he might have run back a bit quick. He's a horse at home that would show you all the signs that he wants to go and do it. I was happy everywhere today. His jumping is impeccable.”

Lauderdale King capped off a tremendous week for the Slattery team as he scored comprehensively in the Follow Us On Instagram Handicap at Cork over a mile and a half, giving the trainer a double on the day. After six unsuccessful runs, the gelding by King Of Change needs a cut in the ground to perform at his best, as previously shown when he was third at Leopardstown on Soft to Heavy conditions. Andy Slattery Jnr had the four-year-old settled in a prominent position behind two clear leaders, although he was three wide after breaking from stall 19. He then travelled smoothly to dispute the lead over two furlongs out. Rory Brennan's gelding was ridden along and ran into a clear lead inside the final two furlongs. From 11/2 into 2/1 favourite, the extremely well-backed bay kept on well and was eased down close home to score by two and a quarter lengths from Justenzia (8/1). Louiescall completed the podium, beaten by three lengths. "He was crying out for a bit of ease in the ground so we fancied him today when we got a bit of rain," said Slattery. "He ran well in Leopardstown but the ground was a bit quick for him. Hopefully he'll get another one in that grade. "He jumps well and he'll go over hurdles. He's a grand horse. Sunrise Angel (5/1 co-fav) opened the yard's account with a smart success in the Book Tickets Online Apprentice Handicap at Cork, completing a 1-3 for the yard as he scored by three and a half lengths under Jimmy Dalton. After nine starts as a maiden, the son of Calyx capitalised on a career-low mark of 55 and showed signs of a return to his two-year-old form, always handy and pouncing over a furlong out to take the initiative before running on well inside the final furlong. Cause I Like You (8/1) was second with Sayonara (11/1) back in third. Andy said: "I thought this horse would be rated a lot higher by now. He was disappointing and was hanging in his races. Thanks to (vet) Ger Kelly he spotted a thing with kissing spines after his last run. We had him treated for it and it seems to have made a difference. He didn't hang today and did everything right. He had a good run when he was beaten a neck in a Curragh nursery last year and he was working like one of our best two-year-olds in the autumn. He came here on his first run this year and ran badly. We brought him over the Ger and he found the problem. I thought he'd be a horse in the mid 70s, at least, by now. Hopefully there is more to come. Loughrea (9/2) was an emphatic winner of the Tote Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh for the yard, easing to the front in this competitive €100,000 Premier Handicap and pulling away to score by three lengths under Andrew Slattery. The son of Elzaam has improved with every run this season and, off a mark of 91, he relished the step up in grade. Manton Bay (8/1) finished second with Pierre Royal (4/1 favourite) back in third. Andy said: "We thought he was very well handicapped at 91. Sure, you don't know until you try. You only think these things, but they don't always work out. I have him in Champions Weekend in the Northfields, but he'll probably come here for the Concorde now. Dropping him back to seven (furlongs) won't be a problem. He'll be rated 100 anyway, so I suppose handicaps are out. It's only his sixth run. His first run in Leopardstown last year, he was as green as grass. I only had him about two months. John was doing him himself at home and sent him on. He just done nothing but improve. He only won by half-a-length at Leopardstown the last day, but he could have won four. Sunrush galloped on strongly in the closing stages to run out a convincing winner of the Gain The Advantage Series Handicap for Andy Slattery. Sam Coen produced the 8/1 shot to lead a furlong-and-a-half down in the mile-six contest and he soon asserted. The Teofilo gelding kept on well inside the final furlong to post a two length success over 3/1 favourite Millhone. The winner was stepping up in trip having finished third over a mile-and-a-half at Tramore last time. Slattery said: "We were a bit worried about that (trip); we didn't know what to expect. Ladies Well was the subject of sustained support for race five in Killarney and the money proved inspired as she rewarded her backers with a clear-cut success. The Easyfix Equine Handicap Chase was run over an extended 2m7f and she was noted making good headway onto the heels of the leaders before three out. She travelled well for Darragh O'Keeffe to move into second at the next just behind Cullenwaine The Mahler mare took over before the last and ran away from Cullenwaine (11/2) to the tune of four and a quarter lengths for trainer Andy Slattery. The winner went off the 3/1 joint favourite, backed down from 9/2. Tropical Image (14/1) was nine lengths adrift of the runner-up in third. After the winner returned to a great reception, Assistant Trainer Willie Slattery said: "We were hoping they'd go a good gallop as she stays going and she did that well. This is her grade and she is doing well at the moment. Cian Quirke and Philly Donovan are our regular jump riders but they both seem to get injured at the same time. We are very lucky to have Darragh (O'Keeffe) and Danny Gilligan as replacements, so we're never scarce for options. The syndicate is headed by former Tipperary hurler Lar Corbett, who previously had Mrs Crogh's Bar. They are a great group from Thurles, and include another Tipperary hurler Ger 'Redser' O'Grady. Preparations (4/1) took the Strand Inn Dunmore East Handicap at Tramore under Sam Coen. The daughter of Mastercraftsman was an eye-catching sixth on her last start in Ballinrobe, where she found trouble in running. In a hotly-run contest, Go Flo Jo set the fractions in front and appeared to wander off the bend about six furlongs out, which nearly took the winner down in what was another dramatic event, but she regained the lead, with stablemate Nathema happy to sit in second. The race changed complexion in the final furlong as Preparations shot to the front and lasted out to win by a length from Nathema. Brian said: "She was very unlucky to be carried out. "Sam was very good on her. He was very cool on her after it happened. He just let her get her own rhythm and get back into the race. He didn't panic going up the hill, he just waited until they got to the top and tried to creep back into it. "It was brilliant watching the finish. We didn't mind which one won! O'Grady Cracker was an impressive winner of the 17:00 Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Handicap Hurdle at Cork on Monday, defying a rise in the weights at 6/4 favourite. The yard's six-year-old travelled very well throughout and produced a couple of fine leaps at the last few hurdles to ease clear of Diamond Tipp by eight lengths. J J Slevin partnered the Kay Russell-owned winner.

Caislean Gear landed the 17:30 Fr. Breen Memorial (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race at Galway on Sunday, reversing his recent form to beat the odds-on favourite Linford by six lengths. The four-year-old Galileo Chrome gelding was ridden by Mr A P Ryan and travelled in the leaders before improving to challenge two furlongs out, leading soon after and keeping on strongly. It was a second win of the season for the Taceec Syndicate.

Faoladh (22/1) produced a surprise late victory for the yard in the 17:35 Ardilaun Hotel Handicap at Galway on Saturday. Ridden by Adam Browne-Souza, the four-year-old Kodi Bear gelding was involved in a three-way finish and kept on strongly inside the final furlong to lead close home. Faoladh had recently had his palate cauterised and had been disappointing, but a drop in trip and better ground brought about the improvement. It was a brilliant ride from Browne-Souza and a welcome return to form for the Men Of Forty Eight Syndicate.

O'grady Cracker got off the mark at Kilbeggan on Friday, winning the Massey Ferguson Johnston Farm Equipment Longford Handicap Hurdle (0-100, Div 2) over 2m 2f 200y under J J Slevin. The four-year-old was having his fifth start over hurdles and his first handicap success.

Ceroc got his first win over fences at Wexford on Wednesday, landing the 16:50 WTW Willis Handicap Chase (3m 155yds, €15,000) as the 9/4 favourite under P T Enright. The eight-year-old Champs Elysees gelding, owned by Kay Russell, saw off Dorans Law (11/2) in the five-runner contest, with Goody Four Shoes back in third on good ground. A patient piece of training — Ceroc had been knocking on the door over fences all season, and a step back up to an extended three miles proved the key.

Ladies Well sprang a 33/1 surprise at Killarney on Friday, landing the 16:17 Europe Hotel And Resort Handicap Chase (0-100, Div 1) over an extended 2m 7f under Cian Quirke. Ridden towards the rear early and 11th at halfway, the mare made smooth headway to fourth before three out, was slightly hampered at that fence, but kept coming — disputing the lead two out, asserting before the last and keeping on well to score by five lengths from Mobile Mamma, with Love Like This eight and a half lengths back in third. A fine training performance to have a 33/1 shot primed over fences — and another winner in a red-hot summer for the yard.

Caislean Gear got off the mark at Killarney on Thursday evening, taking the 19:55 Matchbook Exchange Flat Race (2m 1f, €11,000) at 2/1 favourite under Mr A P Ryan. The Galileo Chrome gelding, owned by the Taceec Syndicate, built on the promise of his runner-up debut at Roscommon last month, winning by a length and a half from Emergency Man with Bravemans Call five lengths back in third. A deserved first success at the third time of asking — and one that suggests there's more to come over further.

Loughrea followed up his Curragh success with victory in the 18:35 Dublin To Bahrain Handicap at Leopardstown on Thursday (1m, €25,000), winning at 10/3 with Andrew Slattery in the saddle. In a tactical six-runner affair, Loughrea saw off Aviatrice by half a length, with the 11/8 favourite How'sthebai back in third for owner Mrs C Holohan. A second win in three weeks for the Elzaam gelding — and a trainer-ridden winner to boot.

Pete's Dream doubled up for the yard at Fairyhouse, taking the 19:55 Early Bird Winters Festival Tickets Handicap (1m 160y, €10,000) at 7/1 under J S Dalton. Tracked the leaders in the early stages, the four-year-old made headway to go second after two furlongs, was pushed along to lead over two furlongs from home, and was soon ridden but kept on well from over a furlong out. The second leg of an evening double for the yard — following Nermal's Roscommon success earlier.

Nermal opened a winning evening for the yard at Roscommon, landing the 19:00 Conor Cassidy Car Sales Handicap (1m 2f 63y, €15,000) at 5/2 favourite under Ben Coen. Went left leaving the stalls before settling to track the leaders, the three-year-old was third at halfway, switched left with two furlongs to run and was soon challenging. Led under pressure a furlong from home and kept on well to beat Vantage Code by two and a half lengths. The first leg of an evening double for the yard — Pete's Dream doubled up at Fairyhouse later on.

Loughrea added to the yard's hot run of form at the Curragh on Friday evening, landing the 17:05 Diageo Luxury Spirits Irish EBF Median Auction Race (1m, €25,000) at 5/2 joint favourite under Sam Coen. Tracked the leaders early before being pushed along in second two furlongs out, Loughrea was ridden to lead a furlong and a half from home and clear at the furlong pole. Pressure came late from the other 5/2 joint favourite Gliondar, but Loughrea kept on under pressure to hold on by a neck, all out at the line. A fourth winner in just over a fortnight for the yard — and a clear step up in venue and prize money.

Expert Dancer broke his maiden at Limerick on Friday evening, getting up close home in the 16:47 Twilight Racing Summer Series Maiden (Div 2) (7f, €13,000) under Andrew Slattery at 85/40. Tracked leaders in the early stages, the three-year-old was third halfway and didn't have a clear run on the inner from two furlongs out, short of room and slightly hampered a furlong and a half from home. He eventually found his way through, was ridden to close on the inner inside the final furlong, led inside the final 150 yards and just held on by a head from Rebel Wave despite being all out at the line. A gritty maiden success — and a second winner in as many days for the father-and-son team after Chipsrdown's victory at Leopardstown the previous evening.

Chipsrdown landed the 18:50 1878 At 3Arena Handicap at Leopardstown on Thursday evening (1m 1f, €12,000), winning at 7/2 favourite under Andrew Slattery. Held up in the early stages, the gelding tracked the leaders, was third with two furlongs to run and ridden in fourth a furlong out, before producing a good late run to lead inside the final furlong and stay on well to beat Half Nutz by a length and a half. A confident step up on his recent third at Gowran — and another winner for the father-and-son combination.

Two winners at Gowran Park on Friday evening, both making all the running. Queen Aethelflaed opened the card in the 17:58 handicap (1m, €9,999), winning at 6/1 under apprentice Orla Tynan. The four-year-old was three lengths clear at halfway and kept on well inside the final furlong to win by a length and a half. Fallacy doubled up in the 18:33 Apprentice Handicap (1m 1f 100y, €15,000), winning easily at 3/1 under Sam Coen. The three-year-old went five lengths clear under two furlongs out and was always in control.
